Time and its essence

What’s your favorite time of day?

The day could most easily be divided into two parts, sun time and moon time. However, that isn’t good enough for us civilized people. We have to divide it into hours, and minutes, and seconds. As I’m writing this, my clock is marking every second I could have done x, y, or z. It ticks every second, reminding me of what I could have accomplished. It also tells me that time hasn’t stopped for us yet, and we can’t expect for it to stop in the near future.

Time is objective. It’s movement and continuity is taken as a fact, a truth. Yet, it depends on where you are, and what TIME of year it is? Even through these odd features, we’ll say, of time, it is useful in determining schedules. I, likely along with many others, like following a schedule. It helps us keep deadlines, which are also created by schedules.

During school, a schedule tells me when to go to school, and when to go to each class. Because of this schedule, I go to school early, during the early hours of the day. I love the feeling you get when you walk into school on a fresh autumn morning, the warm breeze that counteracts the cold air outside, refreshed for another day of school. It might just be me, but that might just be my favourite time of day.

Even outside of school, walking outside to birds chirping and the wind blowing across my face. It feels like a scene straight out of a movie or a book. Time feels as if it’s at a standstill. Looking up at the bright, dazzling sky, I wonder why I don’t go outside as often.

What’s your favourite time of day? I’d love to know why!

TL;DR: Time could be “simple” (that’s subjective), but it isn’t. Time is weird. It depends on your location, and on itself. I love walking outside early in the morning, when the sun is rising, birds are chirping, wind is blowing, and there’s an odd sensation of stillness and zen.
